Graham Rust inspired mural, the trompe l’oiel shells were painted on a dining room ceiling at a home in Beaufort, SC. The shells were painted monochromatic to appear to formed plaster with pineapples to symbolize southern hospitality. at the time I was painting the mural, a Carolina Wren had a nest just outside the window. For a touch of whimsy, the homeowner asked that I add the Wren perched one of the shells with its nest nestled within the shell on the opposite side.
